The Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology is celebrating its 40th anniversary! To mark the occasion, we reached out to see if we could get someone from the Museum to join us on the podcast and answer your dinosaur questions — and they were kind enough to send along Dr. Caleb Brown, Ph.D., Curator of Dinosaur Systematics & Evolution.
Dr. Brown studies the incredible diversity of dinosaurs from Alberta’s Cretaceous Period and their evolutionary relationships. Part of his research focuses on taphonomy — the study of how fossils are preserved and what affects their fossilization. He examines how preservation biases can shape our understanding of ancient ecosystems. Dr. Brown is also especially interested in the evolution and variation of display structures in horned dinosaurs.
If you submitted a question on our social media channels, be sure to tune in and hear Dr. Brown’s answers!
We’ll also chat about the Royal Tyrrell Museum’s upcoming event: Back in Time: Silent Disco.
Dance among the dinosaurs and party like it’s 1985 at this radical event celebrating the Museum’s 40th anniversary. For one night only, the Museum’s Dinosaur Hall will transform into a giant dance floor — get into the groove alongside the dinosaurs!
Please note: This licensed event is for adults ages 18+.
