This week on our Sailor Moon rewatch podcast, we’re talking about “After School Trouble: Usagi is a Target,” a weirdly funny and surprising Sailor Moon Season 2 episode that puts Usagi and Natsumi on a collision course.

Between Miss Haruna’s chaotic detention, the ridiculously competitive “who gets Mamoru” challenge, and Natsumi literally running on empty, this one has that classic mix of comedy, jealousy, and danger that makes the Makaiju arc so fascinating to revisit. We get more of the Ail and A mess, more tension around Mamoru, and another reminder that Natsumi is a lot more complicated than she first seems. There’s a lot going on here under the silliness.
