Here we discuss the money, investing and business stories and practices of accomplished local entrepreneurs and business people. During each episode we discuss topics such as personal finance, investing, economics, entrepreneurship, real estate and personal development.
In Today's episode we welcome Samantha LaDuc from LaDuc Trading in Andover, Massachusetts. She is a well established financial advisor and global market analyst that has grown a subscription based stock trading business. After an unexpected illness in her family Samantha sold her prior company and nursed her son back to health. This was 2008 during the financial crisis which peaked her interest in markets and unlocked her passion for the complexities of stock trading.
We go top to bottom through how she makes money, how difficult it has been to break into the industry, what she does and how it all works. You can hear her polish shine as she weaves in-and-out of the different disciplines and with ease offers excellent insights on where the market is heading and why. I got to ask my own nerdy questions, because I share Samantha's passion for investing, and she delivers every time!
Samantha is the first guest on the podcast that I do not know at all so we get to know each other as the conversation unfolds. Her appearances on YouTube, CNBC and Bloomberg made her a natural behind the mic and I am very proud of this episode!
Visit Samantha's website or social media to learn more about her services and business! I am so glad to have the opportunity to meet such an impressive professional and she really showed me that anything is possible! You listen for free at atcas.podbean.comor anywhere you stream pocasts!

In today's episode I welcome Liesl Clark as a guest and we discuss her 25 year business as a photographer. Over the years she has photographed every shoot you can imagine from weddings, products, modeling, boudoir and nature. Her talents are chronicled through the decades of artistic pictures she has taken.
More recently she has been contracted by Harvard Medical School to capture lectures and faculty around the campus in Boston. One of the added benefits is that she sits in on lectures and meets world class doctors and their students. We learn the ins and outs of her business and how she has adapted over the years as the industry and clientele has changed.
We talk music and movies since she has always loved both art forms. Classics from the 80's and 90's as well as some newer artists she enjoys. She shares her joy of being a mother and how that has influenced her professionally and personally. Liesl praises her children and their accomplishments despite their family's tragedy and finds new meaning to life through their successes.
Liesl shares her simple but effective strategies to running a business and how those can translate to any entrepreneur or company. We laugh and joke throughout the entire episode because we have known each other for years!

Today I am joined by a longtime customer and friend, John Conlon, from Phoenix Footwear (https://www.phoenixfootwear.com/). We explore his 30 year career in retail and wholesale men's fashion, jewelery and footwear. Interestingly, his department is in the "brown box" segment which is men's dress and formal shoes. John spoke eloquently about the value in creating and growing relationships with clients which have stood the test of time. He is currently in charge of the entire east coast of the United States in his current role at Phoenix Footwear.
We discuss how COVID altered his sales approach and, more importantly, his gratitude for what he has in his life. John describes how navigating the pandemic has proven to be a huge catalyst for his current success in business and personal life. He explains that picking life and business partners are crucial and he has done both successfully. His motto is, Work Hard, Stay Humble and Be Honest - as the title of this episode states.
John said that The Phoenix Seminars (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwV7kODRvb0WNPjH_rJ7bYsd4R1e5cUcK) by Brian Tracey were instrumental in the early years of learning sales skills and interpersonal communication. This has been something that he has shared with many others and they've experienced similar outcomes.
There is so much great discussion in this episode and I hope you enjoy meeting this week's guest! Many thanks to John Conlon for making the time to host me at his home and the fantastic conversation. I am grateful to be able to meet and learn from so many amazing guests on After the Checks are Signed.

Today we are joined by Jen Hudziec a 23 year entrepreneur and she shares amazing insight into her journey. We discuss how she got started in her education as she travelled from New Hampshire to Seattle - and back again. The whole time, honing her skills in massage and ritual to prepare her for her own practice. Today she operates in Wilton, New Hampshire and is still growing and thriving in the area.
She recommended two great books to check out: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho and The Profit by Khalil Gibran! These are books she describes as influential to her life and has gifted them many times.
I found the most interesting part of our discussion was when she describes her definition of success and that is where this episode got its name - The Wholistic Entrepreneur! There is more to business than money and we explore those other points of equity in detail.
Starting small and growing into your business was her advice to aspiring business people. Avoid shiny-object syndrome and be resourceful and creative in your growth. This is how you can reach your goals and be successful!
I am grateful to have had such amazing guests on the podcast and Jen delivers in every minute of this latest episode. You can learn more about Jen and her practice at jenhudziec.com and contact her to learn how she can provide you with her services. Make sure you tell her that you ound her on After the Checks are Signed!

In today's episode we welcome Dara Forleo and multi-decade entrepreneur that got her start building pet grooming businesses and selling them to her protégés. Since successfully accomplishing that feat four times she has gone on to start a grooming school and most recently an accredited business school to teach operators how to be great owners.
There are so many nuggets of information about what it takes to be successful in business and the various tactics that Dara has used to accomplish her goals. She even discusses how her life long passion of horse riding has lead her to invest in Come What May Racing and the complexities of racing thoroughbred horses.
I LOVE episode (even though I had a small technology issue) and I am sure you will love it too (well, except the poor recording quality for the first thirty minutes...)
You can learn more about Dara through her various socials and entities on Linked-In, at www.wholepetnh.com to learn about getting yourself into the grooming business and at daraforleo.com to contact her directly about her racing team or to learn about becoming business ready through her new online accredited school,

On today's episode we interview Jeff Jones a finance professional that has worked for one of the country's largest brokerages for the last 15+ years. We have a wide ranging discussion about today's macroeconomic environment regarding raising interest rates, inflation and the effects of each on the economy. How ironic that we record on Fed Day (1/11/23) where we await the rate decision of the central bankers.
From there we shift to life lessons about money and success that he learned while being a paperboy in his youth. We also touch on the subject of cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology and artificial intelligence - an area that I am very passionate about! You will learn so much about life and finance from our candid conversation.
