The daughter of Sandra Allen ‘ 81 and Stephen Redmon ’80. Tené has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. She leads cross functional teams in designing and executing corporate strategy, developing high performing teams, driving innovation and inspiring breakthrough performance in the financial services industry. She currently supports various community efforts, including Junior Achievement and the development of a new breakthrough museum experience, the Universal Hip Hop Museum. After Colgate, she completed her MBA at the University of Connecticut with a double concentration in Marketing and International Business. Her academic journey also included studies at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad, Emlyon Business School in France and Emory University. While at Colgate, she received her BA with a double concentration in Political Science and Sociology/ Anthropology.

Alvin and German conduct a great conversation with Universal North America’s Vice President of Legal and Compliance, Susan Burrell, ’87. She leads the Legal and Compliance department and serves as the liaison between Universal North America and multiple organizations. She also plays a key role as regulatory counsel in the development of policies, procedures, and forms required to meet regulatory standards. Before joining Universal North America, she had over 25 years of experience working in various insurance industry legal, compliance, operations, and underwriting positions. After graduating from Colgate University, she earned her Juris Doctorate degree from Georgetown University Law Center. Upon graduation from law school, Burrell was an in-house attorney for Exxon. Burrell is an admitted member of the Florida, Texas, and New Jersey Bar. While at Colgate, she received her BA in Economics.

Alvin and German conduct a great conversation with writer, conservationist, and technologist, JP Ortiz, ’10. Professionally, he works in tech sales for Microsoft Surface: U.S. Education serving K-12 and Higher Education customers in the Southeast. Outside of work, he and his wife (Emily Baselt '11) are in the process of building an eco-spiritual retreat center in Costa Rica and are applying JP's skills as a Permaculture Designer using sustainable planning and construction methods. In his community, JP has served on the Advisory Council for Next Generation Men & Women of Atlanta an organization that helps under-resourced youth by closing the opportunity gap by pairing students with professional and career growth experiences. After Colgate, JP earned his his MBA at Emory University - Goizueta Business School in 2018 with a degree in finance and marketing. While at Colgate, he received his B.A. in Spanish and Philosophy.

Alvin and German conduct a great conversation with the Kenny Leon's True Colors Theatre’s Artistic Director, Jamil Jude.’09. A director, producer, playwright, and dramaturg. Jamil is a former participant in the Leadership U: One-on-One program, funded by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Driven art advocate dedicated to building communities, he has also served as the National New Play Network Producer in Residence at Mixed Blood Theatre Company and the New Play Producing Fellow at Arena Stage in Washington, DC. His interest in social justice and theatre continues to drive his work, including co-founding a culturally relevant theatre company, Colored People's Theatre, in Washington, DC. While at Colgate, he was on the track team and received his Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature/Letters.

Alvin and German conduct a great conversation on Colgate’s campus in front of students with U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Chief of the Research Office in the Refugee, Asylum, and International Operations, LeRoy Potts, ’85. In this role he leads a highly-skilled research team that delivers a variety of unclassified research products, which support more than 1200 officers in adjudicating complex refugee and asylum cases. LeRoy is also one of the co-founders of the Colgate Alumni of Color organization which this year will be celebrating it’s 35th anniversary. After Colgate, LeRoy earned an MPA (1990) from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas, and a J.D. (2002) from The George Washington University School of Law. In 2021, he was awarded the Council on Foreign Relations 2021–2022 International Affairs Fellowship in Canada. Potts will research immigration, race, and national identity. While at Colgate, he received his B.A. in Political and International Relations.

A a former educator and community organizer, Dena graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law in May 2017. While studying in law school, she had many high-profile internships. She offers diversity, equity, and inclusion training with nonprofits and companies around the country through her consulting business, Radical Root. While at Colgate, she was heavily involved in student activities and received her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Political Science and Women's Studies.

Alvin and German conduct a great conversation with keynote speaker & the founder of Devin C. Hughes Inc., Devin C. Hughes.’80. Originally from Washington DC. Devin currently works with a number of startups and large global organizations setting up best practices for their people strategy. Through Devin C. Hughes Inc., a boutique training and development firm, he helps established and emerging leaders grow to reach their ideal potential, as well as their teams. His approach draws from the science of positive psychology, helping clients plan for positive growth, as they receive the cutting edge in research on well-being and flourishing. While at Colgate, he was on the basketball team and received his BA in Sociology and Anthropology.

Alvin and German conduct a great conversation with Apple’s Senior Events Coordinator, Pablo Gonzalex.’01. A highly motivated Events Producer and Project Manager, Pablo specializes in experiential event and podcast production. He has sourced hundreds of high-profile talent and has years of experience with event operations, detailed execution, and problem-solving. After Colgate, he taught English for four years in Taichung City, Taiwan. He is an outdoors enthusiast, amateur photographer, and audiophile. While at Colgate, he double majored in Biology and History.

Alvin and German conduct a great conversation with Licensed Clinical Therapist, Kianna Cole.’99. Originally from Syracuse NY and still living there, she currently provides therapy in a maximum-security men’s correctional facility, working with men who have mental health issues. She also provides online therapy, helping clients determine their best version of themselves. Since Colgate, Kianna has worked as the Onondaga County Re-Entry Task Force Coordinator, overseeing a task force of state and local stakeholders. In that role, she improved interventions and policies, helping people transition out of prison back into the community. She has also implemented a human service program called SOAR (Supporting Offenders After Release), which she originally designed in a Colgate University Social Deviance course. While at Colgate, she received her BA in Sociology and Anthropology, and minored in Biology. After graduating, she received a MS.W. from Syracuse University.
