In this first mountaintop of Romans, Paul reveals how God has put forward Jesus to exalt both His mercy & His holiness.

In times of depression, we must acknowledge that we don’t need to know everything God is
doing to trust Him.

• Truth Anchor #1: I cannot know everything, but God is good & He is in control.

• Truth Anchor #3: I need godly friends in the midst of depression, even when I want to be alone.

Last week, we ended the message wondering what God would do...Perfect righteousness is His standard. His holy character demands perfect justice. This means all are condemned. Paul has given us great evidence proving this point. Will He execute that justice? Or will He adjust the standard & grade on a curve?

Even though depression & mental health have been stigmatized in the past, there is no better place to find hope in depression that in the church of Jesus Christ.

For Paul, the Mosaic Law is not useless. Rather, it has two distinct functions according to Romans 3:19-20. In both of these ways, the Law of God prepares us to receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

What connects every person on earth besides being made in the image of God? In Romans 3, Paul helps us understand that all human beings are hopeless apart from God's provision of Jesus Christ.

Jesus told the parable of the weeds among the wheat to teach His disciples to not be occupied with thoughts of how to purify the church by their own efforts. God will take that action at the time of the final judgment.

Sin has deadly affects on our ability to think, particularly when we devote ourselves to rationalizing our own sinful actions as right. Consider more about Paul's warning against self-justification in today's message.

Jesus told the parable of the ten virgins to emphasize that, since the time for the return of the Lord and the day of judgment is unknown, His disciples must remain alert.
