The Easter Cycle.
Most of us love to celebrate the holidays of Christmas and Easter, but did you know Christians have observed six distinct seasons for spiritual formation? Have you ever wondered about the origins of Lent or Advent? Are you intrigued by Ash Wednesday but unsure about its biblical grounding?
In this five week class, we will explore the concept of time, especially as it has been marked by Christian for millennia–through use of the Church Calendar. Additionally, we will explore practical ways for families to intentionally center our lives around the life and teaching of our Lord, along with a look at the theological meaning and history of Christmas, Easter, and other Christian seasons.
Overview and Intro.
Shrouded in mystery and bursting with bizarre imagery, Revelation has become one of the most neglected books in the Bible. Its symbolic language has confused readers for centuries and has become fuel for conspiracy theories and cults, and because of that Revelation has been functionally removed from the canon.
But what if it's not meant to scare us? What if it's meant to cultivate hope in us?
In this five week class, we will dive headfirst in the strange and beautiful world of apocalyptic literature. We will gain practical tools to understand Revelation's imagery, comprehend its context, and uncover the books' major themes.
It's time to reclaim the book we were never meant to ignore.
