Shane Neaves is the CEO of Peninsula Villages, a residential aged care community in Brisbane Water, on New South Wales’ Central Coast, an hour north of Sydney. Peninsula Villages is currently working with Brisbane Water Secondary College to introduce Year 11 and Year 12 students to the possibility of a career in aged care. Neaves spoke with Aged Care Insite about this initiative, the challenges of recruiting new staff to the sector and future workforce issues in aged care.

Residents and consumers across Anglican Care’s services were invited to Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College as guests of honour for the final dress rehearsal of its production of High School Musical.

The event gave more than 100 residents the opportunity to watch students show off their talents, while the performers were able to unveil the production to a live audience before opening night.
