Greetings from the beautiful island of Kauai, Hawaii. It’s amazing to watch how well elders are treated here. I continue discussing things that people say that are extremely ageist, and they have not educated themselves to know that their words are discriminatory and negative. Ageism is a huge epidemic. The thing is, there are hundreds of millions of people over the age of 50 all over the world. But North America seems to treat this group like pariahs. When you travel outside of North America to countries in Europe, Asia and Africa “elders” are revered and acknowledged. They are vital members of the community.
