Today, we talked with Dr. Jada Thompson in preparation for Thanksgiving! We chatted about turkey production, the economics of the turkey industry in the state and why it’s important to remember turkey producers beyond the Thanksgiving holiday season.

Jada Thompson is an Associate Professor of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness at the University of Arkansas. She holds two bachelor’s degrees from the UofA, one in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness and another in Poultry Science. She went on to pursue a master’s degree in Ag Economics and another one in Rural Development, as well as a PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics.

In today's episode, Jessica sat down with Hannah Walker! Hannah grew up on a diversified livestock operation, where she was introduced to agriculture at a young age. She is the co-owner of County Line Beef, LLC in Henderson, Arkansas, and she works in finance for the Mountain Home School District in their Special Education Department.

In today's College Student Spotlight Episode, we talk with Natasha Hightower! She is a graduate student at the University of Arkansas getting her master's in Agricultural and Extension Education with a focus in Leadership. 

She grew up in Bailey, Arkansas, where she was first introduced to agriculture on her family's beef cattle operation. She attend the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville for her associate's degree. She finished her bachelor's degree at the University of Arkansas, majoring in agricultural communications. 

After she graduated with her bachelor's degree in May 2024, Natasha decided to continue her education at the University of Arkansas by pursuing her master's degree. In this episode, she talks about her educational journey and what it's like to be a student at the University of Arkansas.
