December 21, 2021 Saint Peter Canisius: Classic ACU Ep. 4
Today the Church celebrates Saint Peter Canisius, Priest, Doctor of the
Church. Did you know that the ACU Marian Sodality’s inclusion in the Prima
Primaria back on July 19, 1934 was under the name of Inmaculada & San Pedro
Canisio, SJ? Fr. Llorente devoted his homily (in Spanish) of Nov. 12, 1997,
to this Jesuit Saint and, among many other insights, explains why ACU’s
patron Saint was later changed. Hearing his homily one cannot help but
think about how Fr. Llorente offered his life for the Agrupación as, much
earlier, St. Peter Canisius offered his for Germany. That evening's guardia
also included a study circle by Francisco Javier Muller on another Doctor
of the Church, St. Therese of the Child Jesus.

Today the Church celebrates the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin
Mary. Three days ago, in Miami, we celebrated the Agrupacion Catolica
Universitaria's 90th anniversary. It seems fitting to remember the role of
our patroness in the restoration of the ACU in Miami and elsewhere, as
reported by Fr. Amando Llorente’s in a 2006 radio broadcast on Radio Paz,
hosted by Forum XXI agrupados Carlos Gaston, Manuel Hernandez, Jose “Tete”
Mestre and Julio Ruiz (in Spanish).

December 02, 2021 New! "Classic" podcasts of Fr. Llorente homilies and agrupado círculos
We launch this new weekly SPANISH series with the start of the Church’s
liturgical year, also referred to as Year of Grace, the infinite
celebration of God’s love. The podcast is divided in three sections: Fr.
Llorente’s homily for the corresponding week, not necessarily the reading
of the day, and the círculo that followed the Mass, invariably with Fr.
Llorente’s contributions during Q&A. The Advent homily, a very Marian
message for all agrupados, and the círculo, on the Interpretation of the
Bible by José Ignacio Lasaga, based on a Pope Pius XII Encyclical promoting
biblical studies. Lasaga is recognized as one of Cuba’s most brilliant
intellectuals of his time. The original recording is from December 1992.
Lastly, and more for historical purposes, we include Fr. Llorente and
agrupados’ petitions, announcements, and the closing ACU Hymn. Let us know
