Australia is currently hosting its largest-ever Exercise Talisman Sabre until the 4th of August. This year, it hosts over 30,000 troops from 19 nations taking part. I had the extreme pleasure of talking to Brigadier Ben Mclennan from the Australian Army about this record breaking collaborative training exercise and the various troops stationed in the Charters Towers region.
On this day in 1928, an artist was born who would go on to lead a visual art movement called Pop-Art. He coined the phrase "fifteen minutes of fame" and created Pop Art works that bordered on advertisement, such as Campbell's Soup Cans from 1962. I talked about the artist, Andy Warhol on this morning's brekky show.
King Edward and Earl Æthelred defeated the last major Viking army to invade England on this day at the Battle of Tettenhall. Also the Beatles release Yellow Submarine on this day too.

However, the hardy chaps at Blunham Cricket Club in the UK have smashed the world record for the longest cricket marathon for six, beating their own previous record by 63 hours, totaling 168 hours and 22 minutes. If you have a sweet tooth, You'll like the 1st of August, as it's Raspberry Cream Pie Day. Yum!

If you travel to Eindhoven in the Netherlands, you'll find a demonstration of a 'sound camera', which can be used to calculate and create a 3D map of sound sources. That's the subject of our Guinness World Records segment today.
