Our manifesto calls us to have an "end user focus". Among other things, we set up the Visual Design Group to take care of this. Unfortunately the effect of their work is limited by our knowledge about our users. We act ethically, respect privacy, but as a result do not know even most basic things about our user base.

In this talk we present a proof of concept that we have created together with KUserFeedback to cut this Gordian knot. It allows users to store personal data locally, while we as KDE can generate statistics about our users' distributed data pool. We can do this without compromising our ethical standards or ever touching users' privacy.

QML is an excellent language for developing fast user interfaces. However, due to its runtime nature, it can be fragile when undergoing refactoring. This lightning talk will demonstrate the benefits of enabling qmllint in your compilation process to detect QML issues at compile time rather than runtime.

Additionally, JSON files play a crucial role in KDE’s source code, serving as metadata files for applets and being embedded in plugin metadata. To prevent runtime issues and implicit type conversions, a continuous integration (CI) job has been implemented across all repositories. However, this is just one of the many advantages of improved validation and schema efforts.

This talk will highlight key benefits and demonstrate how you can take advantage of these improvements.
