In this reminder, Sh. Yahya Rhodus continues commenting on the prophetic invocations for protection—specifically, "I seek refuge in the complete words of Allah from the evil of what He has created." These prophetic invocations were read daily by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and as we face these uncertain times, they are pillars of support for the believer.

Arabic Duʿa: أعوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَق

Transliteration: A'ūdhu bikalimāt Illah it-tāmmāti min sharri mā khalaq

In this brief reminder, Sh. Yahya Rhodus talks about the relationship between Prophet Yunus and the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon them both).

He also comments on the following passage from the Quran, "And when the Man of the Whale stormed off [from his city] in a rage, thinking We would not restrain him. Then he cried out in the darkness, “There is no god except You. Glory be to You! I have certainly done wrong.” So We answered his prayer and rescued him from anguish. And so do We save the [true] believers." [Quran 21:87-88]

In response to the fear and concern brought about by the recent spread of the Covid-19 virus, Sh. Yahya Rhodus reminds us of the importance of seeking protection with Allah's Name. In this important and timely reminder, Sh. Yahya comments on the following prophetic duʿa (supplication) and encourages everyone to recite it daily:

بِسْمِ اللهِ الَّذِي لَا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

“In the name of Allah, with Whose name nothing on earth or in heaven can harm—He is the All-Hearing and All-Knowing.”

This Khutba, delivered by Sh. Yahya Rhodus at Al-Maqasid, focuses on the believer's relationship with Ayat al-Kursi, the Verse of the Throne.

As the sacred month of Rajab approaches, a believer uses this time to prepare for the month of Ramadan. This Khutba focuses on taking advantage of the month of Rajab through turning back to Allah ﷻ through repentance. It also discusses the benefits of seeking Allah's forgiveness in this life and the next.

This Khutba focuses on the centrality of love in Islam. Allah the Exalted said, “There are some who take others as Allah’s equal—they love them as they should love Allah—but the believers have even more intense love for Allah” [Quran 2:165]. If we were to taste one atom's weight of Allah's love, all of the world's pleasures combined would pale in comparison.

The Khutba also touches upon the Way of the Messenger ﷺ as the path to Allah's love, and that our attachment to and love of the Prophet ﷺ is part of our love of Allah.

Part of Allah's blessing for this Ummah is that He has granted, as Allah's Messenger ﷺ has informed us, renewers of this religion in each century. To this point, Imam al-Haddad stated, "Allah inspires the people of knowledge in every time with what the people of that time need."
