This week’s sermon is the last of six messages in the Building Families discipleship series. We’ve learned thus far that family is God’s idea but it has been broken and shattered by sin. God seeks to redeem those fractured pieces through the family of believers. Our faith is not meant to be private nor should we try to walk it out alone. If we commit to using the four relational values that were described: hope, trust, forgiveness and love, we will see all our relationships grow and thrive including our family relationships.
The three main points of the sermon are:
1. Hear God’s Promise (Gen. 28:14-15)
- “I have a blessing for you within the family of God.”
- Our natural bloodline of sin has been intersected with the new bloodline of faith.
2. Believe the Promise (Gen. 28:12, 16-22)
- Lower your defenses (v.12)
- Think differently (v.16)
- Talk differently (v.17)
- Act differently (vv.18-22)
- Initiate the experiment and persevere in your efforts to “connect”.
3. Be the Promise (Matt. 26:26-28)
- Become a “connector” in the family of God.
