Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.
Melody Beattie
It’s tempting to think gratitude comes from having what you want. You see yourself giving thanks if you had money, a loving family, and maybe a house on the beach. Still, you know there are ungrateful, unhappy people with these things, and poor people full of gratitude for what little they have.
So, where does this feeling come from? I believe that gratitude arises from how you look at things, and is a natural feeling that comes from truly appreciating the people and things in your life.
You also can develop the habit and attitude of gratitude which will lead to increase abundance in your life, work, job, and business! Start writing down every positive thing that happens to you, and all the things you like in a gratitude journal. Do this daily, or at least start out weekly, until you start automatically seeing the good things in life. If you’ve ever bought a white car, and started seeing white cars all over, you know how awareness can alter your perception of reality.
To see wonderful things all over, train yourself to look for them.
When you are in the habit of “counting your blessings,” gratitude, and a much wealthier and meaningful experience of life is the natural result. There are numerous other benefits of gratitude. Yet, many people still do not or refuse to shower themselves or the people around them with gratitude. Instead, they put themselves and others down by criticism and condemnation. Let's make the effort to reverse that poor habit, that in the end mainly affects us, the criticizer. Take the next few seconds to ponder over the following questions and then listen to Episode 14 of The Coaching Parlour Podcast:
