Alex Celis is a small business owner in the South Florida community. He and his two brothers created Celis Produce in 2014. Though their concept began as a produce buying club, they quickly realized there was a need for more in the community. In the fall of 2015, Alex and his brothers opened the first brick and mortar Celis Produce location in West Palm Beach.
The produce industry has been a big part of the Celis family’s story. Originally from Columbia, their father became involved in selling produce in Palm Beach County upon moving to the US in the 80s. Alex and his brothers grew up helping their father in this capacity. After some experience working an office job, Alex found his way back to the produce business, expanding upon his childhood experiences to create a modern business.
Celis has become a local staple, serving as a space that represents happiness, connection, and family. After finding inspiration in New York, Alex and his brothers furthered their presence in the local community by opening Crema, a rolled ice cream shop, in February 2019.
In this episode, Alex talks about how his daily routine has developed around being a business owner over the last 5 years. He discusses his gratitude for starting each day with his family and the importance of giving back to yourself. It is through this self-care that he has come to some of his best ideas. In 2020, Alex is excited to further his involvement in the community, especially by opening Crema’s second location in Delray Beach. You can keep up with Alex’s business by visiting any of their soon-to-be 4 locations, as well as by following Celis Produce (@celisproduce), Crema (@cremarolls), and Alex personally (@yomrcelis).
