ABOUT PODCAST #8
Hey guys, welcome to Podcast 8! In this episode I talk about my time as a non-league football referee.
Aside from the world’s longest intro (!), I answer listeners questions:
Just to warn you there is swearing and a few strong opinions in this episode. I’ll let you listen to find out exactly what!
Other than that, just want to say a massive thanks for your support listening so far. This is week 8 of the podcasts (!) which is bonkers. As I return to work tomorrow (1st June) the past 3 months have been awesome, I’ve loved getting stuck into the YouTube channel and producing videos/podcasts for you. (Fair play for listening to my rambling, I don’t half like to talk!).
But just to let you know that next week is the first episode of the problem gambling podcast series. They’ve been pre-recorded, so I won’t ‘speak’ to you until mid-July when we pick things back up with podcast topics.
I’ll be releasing videos as and when. As I say, I’m back to work tomorrow, so I’m going to just see how things pan out before making a decision on when I’ll upload to YouTube. (Have been sticking to Wednesday’s) so just going to see how things pan out. We’ll definitely stick to Sundays at 7pm for the podcasts.
Anyways, I’ve got completely side-tracked from the actual podcast topic of non-league football refereeing! But it’s a bit like the cruise ship podcasts, I think there’s more to say, so I may well return to this topic of conversation in future episodes.
Have an awesome few weeks guys, and check-back from the gambling series, which starts Sunday 7th June 7pm!
Nice one, cheers!
ABOUT PODCAST #7
Hey guys, welcome to Podcast 7! In this episode I chat with Shannon Cunningham, one of London’s most sought-after personal trainers. With a client list including A-listers from the arts, entertainment, business and sporting industries, and with articles featured in Men’s Health, Men’s Running and Bodyfit, he’s the go-to man when it comes to fitness and wellness.
I think you guys are going to get great value from listening to his tips and advice on keeping a healthy and balanced lifestyle, and hearing the benefits of exercise, physically and mentally. If you’re new to the channel, perhaps one of Shannon’s clients or followers, then hey, how you are doing! Thanks for popping over and listening.
For eagle-eyed fans, you’ll already be familiar with Shannon, from the skiing trip highlights video. He features heavily, and in my drunken stupor I go on record and basically call him out as my long-lost brother! Anyways, he’s a top guy, and I think you’ll love hearing his infectious energy, passion and knowledge in this podcast.
If you haven’t already, and you’d like to be first to hear of new content, then don’t forget to subscribe to the channel. It makes me feel good (a nice, gooey hit of dopamine) but also lets me know that you’re enjoying my content and inspires me to create more! And likewise, if you have any positive feedback, or even some constructive criticism, I’m all ears. I’m always looking at ways to improve the channel so don’t be afraid to share your tips and advice. As my mother says, it’s sometimes good to be cruel to be kind!
Anyways, that being said, here are the links to Shannon’s website and Instagram. I personally love joining in on his group classes on Zoom on Monday’s. It’s great to workout with other people, and to have Shannon checking-in on technique and kicking me up the backside with some great motivation. Get in touch with him to find out more:

And finally, I’m pleased to announce that Sunday 7th June will be the first release of the problem gambling podcast series. Mega excited to get that out to you, it’ll be one episode per week, and there are 6 episodes, with 6 guests, including: a school teacher, a registered mental health nurse, a trained hypnotherapist, a former Premier League Footballer, a partner of someone who’s suffered from gambling problems, and a fascinating young man who suffered from gambling addiction but has since gone on to form his own clothing brand. I think you’re going to really enjoy listening to the series and I can't wait to get it out on the airwaves in a couple of weeks!
Until then, speak to you next week. (Don’t forget to check-back every Wednesday for new videos, and every Sunday for new podcasts).
Cheers guys!
Alex

ABOUT PODCAST #6
In this weeks podcast, I talk about how I got fired from a cruise ship. (I know, absolutely ridiculous). I feel like all the podcasts are exposing stuff that really don't stack up in my favour in terms of life achievements. But what the heck. It's a decent story to tell the grandkids!
So yeah.
The podcast is conversational and relaxed in nature. WARNING: it contains swearing and themes of an adult nature. Viewer discretion is advised.
Besides the story of how we got fired, I also tell tales of how I got the job, countries visited, what the food was like, the price of booze, etc. If you feel like there's other stuff you'd like to know, let me know, as I definitely do feel like there's more to answer!
Side-note (unrelated to this podcast)... I'm doing a refereeing podcast soon and wondered if you had any questions? I've got plenty of stories about climbing the ladder, crazy matches, abusive fans, pushy parents, managers to avoid, etc. But if you've got a burning question, let me know by writing a comment.
As always, thanks for listening and showing your support.
Speak to you next week!
In this podcast I talk to you about the importance of keeping a routine in your daily life. It is ideally for people who are struggling during lockdown, feeling low and without structure in their lives. Having been self-employed for the past 7-8 years, I fully understand the importance of adding a routine to your day, especially when there’s not much to do! I used to be the king of doing nothing and ended up feeling very depressed. During the last year or two, getting my life back on track, a lot of it was to do with self-discipline and adding routine and structure to my day. So, this podcast gives you lots of tips and advice about how you can keep sane during lockdown. The main aim is to help you improve your physical and mental health. It might also help self-employed people.
ABOUT PODCAST #4
Firstly, I just want to say thanks for all your support after last week's podcast. I received so many messages of support and encouragement from friends and family and even strangers! (Which is quite weird for me, but it’s good to know it’s reaching people that need it the most).
This week has been very busy. TalkRadio got in touch (what the actual!) and wanted to hear my story and thoughts on the new government ban on gambling adverts on TV and Radio during lockdown. Having released the podcast last week, to get asked to go on radio and speak about this topic was nuts. I felt like an idiot (usually do anyway!), but it was good to have an opportunity to spread the message about problem gambling.
Another reminder to please submit your questions about problem gambling to me no later than this week. I’ve been approached to record a podcast series about problem gambling and I’m inviting you, dear listener, to help me with the types of questions to answer and be included. Please can you submit any questions you have about the subject to me no later than this week. I've already been asked loads of questions, but just in case there's any more that you'd like to be addressed! If you’ve got a question to ask then great, please leave a comment, or get in touch with me via social media, or email me (Alex): [email protected]
Finally, if you’re digging this podcast, do us a lovely favour and give us a thumbs up, leave a comment of support and/or subscribe. I just want you to know this isn’t for financial gain – simply to help push the content up the algorithms and help get the word out about problem gambling! (Something the powers that be don’t do enough of!). And this isn’t a bluff either, I know what some of you are thinking ;-)
Speak next week!
Alex
ABOUT PODCAST #3
This podcast is about my gambling addiction during my twenties. I don’t want to write too much about the podcast, other than to warn you it gets very emotional and intense at times. It’s aimed at men in particular, as statistically we are more likely to become problem gamblers. (Please see key facts on my YouTube comments - too long for this description!). This podcast won’t be to everyone’s liking, and that’s fine, I understand. (Sorry girls). I am supporting the ‘Gambling With Lives’ charity by buying a t-shirt, and you can visit their website from the link below. I also recommend watching some of the video links to build a better picture of problem gambling.
ABOUT THE PODCAST #2
Well, where do we start. Lessons I learned during my twenties. I feel I could've gone on for another hour or so! This is absolutely skimming the surface in terms of detail. I listed down around 30 bullet points. There's lot of stories, anecdotes and silliness (Karl Pilkington eat your heart-out).
It's also incredibly personal to me. This podcast shares a lot of personal stuff, some stuff that not many people will know about. I don't want to say I've put myself in a vulnerable position, it's more for others to listen and hopefully take note. If I can get one of you to turn around and say "hey, do you know what, I can relate to that as well, maybe I'll heed his advice and steer clear". That's the aim. To share life experiences and pass on knowledge. (I don't want to sound like some stuck-up middle class millennial, you know "oh hard I've had it"). But seriously, this is to help others. That's my intention. As well as to entertain.
I've listened to this podcast around 5 times. I've toyed whether to do it again, whether to re-record parts, but do you know what, it is what it is. It was a state of consciousness that was a moment. It's in the past. It's gone. Nothing is perfect!
Anyway, self-doubt aside, I hope you enjoy it.
If any of you want to discuss things in private with me, then you can email me at [email protected] I'd love to hear from you. Seriously. I'm absolutely doing this to make myself open to others who want to chat.
Next week I plan to tackle the juicy subject that is gambling addiction. I know a couple of blokes that recently took their own lives because of huge financial debt, and it's a subject that quite frankly, sails very close to me. I will be open and honest, it'll be a bit like attending gambler's anonymous session I'm sure, but it's time to lift the lid on a dirty secret of mine. A big, horrible lesson I learnt during my twenties. That's all for now. Stay tuned for that episode which will be published Sunday 7pm next week.
Peace and love!
Alex
ABOUT PODCAST #1
Well, here we are guys. It's the first podcast! (Can I get a woop woop!?).
Massive thanks to Charlie who helped me with this one. (Not only writing the questions, but recording twice!). He's my oldest friend in the world - literally - and I owe him plenty of beers. I was a bit nervous at first, but settled into things after a while. (Charlie threw-in a few curve balls that I wasn't expecting!). Hopefully you enjoy listening to it. It was a lot of fun to record and edit.
So yeah, this is it.
I'm going to upload a podcast to the channel every Sunday at 7pm. (Alongside a video, too). It's up to you how and when you digest the content, and get your routine listening/watching. I know myself, I like to listen to podcasts driving in the car, but I know other people like listening whilst running, walking, exercising, cooking, etc. So whatever time or day it is, thank you for taking the time out of your day to listen. It means a lot.
With the threat of repeating myself (and if you've listened to the podcast, then I am absolutely repeating myself!) the format of the 30 minute podcasts will be:
1) Intro Music
2) Short Intro (around 5 mins in length with news, updates and announcements)
3) The main topic of conversation
4) Short Outro (around 1-2 minutes in length).
Talking of topics of conversation, I will be tackling juicy subjects in next week's podcast 'lessons I learned during my twenties'. So be sure to tune in to that one. (It'll be just me chatting away. Maybe in the future we'll get other guests on).
I do feel the podcasts will be a bit like marmite. You'll other love them or hate them. And I can deal with that. I'm old enough and ugly enough to know not everyone will love what's going on here. But the main intention is to communicate with a like-minded audience.
Anyway, I hope it'll keep you nice and entertained through these weird times (and beyond). They'll be plenty of hiccups along the way, with 'you know', 'your sort of', etc. But I'm hopeful I'll improve as time progresses.
So yeah.
With the threat of sounding incredibly cheesy, this is the start of the journey and I hope you come along and enjoy the ride. Let's see where it takes us!
Have a fantastic week.
Cheers,
Alex
