In mid-December 2025, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) told reporters, "Let the record show: I would stomp him," referring to Vice President JD Vance in a hypothetical 2028 presidential matchup. 
The comment was prompted by a December 2025 poll from The Argument/Verasight that showed Ocasio-Cortez leading Vance 51% to 49% in a potential general election contest.
