Under Iran’s constitution, when the Supreme Leader dies, a temporary leadership council takes over as the highest authority.
This council acts as head of state and commander-in-chief until a new leader is chosen.
It currently includes:
- Iran’s President – Masoud Pezeshkian
- Chief Justice – Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje’i
- Senior cleric – Ayatollah Alireza Arafi
(Some early reports included other figures, but authoritative sources list these three as the core council members.)
