The Sunshine family is unique in Mozambique because it is made up mostly of girls—28 out of 41 children—whilemost centers care for mostly boys. In many communities, orphaned girls are kept by extended family to help with household chores, leaving boys more commonlyplaced in children’s centers. Because of this, the boys at Sunshine were especially excited to welcome 10-year-old Alfredo. His arrival brings a refreshing balance to the home. The children are happily embracing their newestbrother.
