On 24 March 2026 CPAC conference in Budapest gathered most of the European right-wing politicians mobilised in support of Viktor Orban whose popularity dropped dramatically after 16 years of corruption and nepotism, which resulted in stagnating Hungarian economy. Most of the participants sympathised with Putin and happily repeated Russian narratives, completely reversing the aggressor and the victim of the war in Ukraine. Among the speakers on the conference there was a German revisionist politician Alice Weidel (AfD) who spoke like it was 1939, blaming Ukraine for being invaded and describing European support for Ukraine's defense as "prolonging the war". She also spoke of Ukraine as "the most corrupt country", ignoring the fact that it's Russia that is much more corrupt in Transparency International ranking, while Ukraine is almost at the same level as Hungary.
