In the lead up to our federal elections candidate series, today we will be speaking with Craig Blakely from Vote Easy, a non-biased, independent online platform, making elections easy by connecting voters and candidates.

We chat about how it could help to get the approx. 40% of undecided voters to connect with the candidates that align with their values, leading to more informed decision making at the polls.

This week we will be speaking with Cid Riley and Paige Davis from CATTI, Communities Against The Tarago Incinerator. CATTI is a community-led organisation opposing Veolia's proposal to build a waste-to-energy (WTE) garbage incinerator near Tarago, in the NSW Southern Tablelands, close to Lake George.

The predicted range of the incinerator's toxic plume would cover a large area of NSW east of Canberra, and areas in the ACT including the entirety of Gungahlin, Belconnen, Molonglo Valley and a huge swathe of North Canberra!

This week we are reaching out to our listeners to support flood victims and the relief efforts driven by civilian mobilised response teams. With things on the ground changing daily, it can be unclear how best to help those in need.

Joining us at 9am, Dotti Janssen from Aussie Helping Hands will be giving us an update on the reality of the situation, what is needed most right now and how we can help.

This week we will be speaking with Steven Liaros and Nilmini de Silva about Circular Economy Villages, one of several global megatrends that are changing the way we live and work.

The convergence of these trends, taken to their logical conclusion, suggests that future cities should be planned as a network of community-scale precincts. These would incorporate precinct-scale circular economy infrastructure, renewable energy micro-grids, shared electric vehicles and regenerative agriculture integrated with build-to-rent housing and co-working hubs.

The Circular Economy Village development model is applicable primarily in rural and regional areas seeking to attract post-COVID escapees from the major cities with high-tech, regenerative villages that strive towards self-sufficiency and zero waste within their bioregion. Each village will house a diverse community of up to 200 people and will integrate affordable co-working and co-living spaces with water and energy micro-grids and a regenerative agricultural system modelling a new paradigm for regenerative, shared-equity land development.

At this month's CoCanberra / NENA Canberra Regional Hub we welcomed Sam Byrne, secretary of the Co-op Federation, and Richard O'Leary, Chair of the Co-op Federation.

The Co-op Federation is a peak body co-operative representing and servicing co-operative enterprise in Australia. They do a great job of providing on the ground, practical support for their members, including extensive training for board members.

Sam has been an active member and director in the co-operative sector for more than 25 years. He became a director of the Federation in 2013 and secretary in 2016.

He is also a former Mayor, and a director of Local Government Super. Sam holds a Masters of Management from the University of Technology, Sydney and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

He is passionate about the co-operative enterprise model that delivers benefits to members and their communities rather than simply profit to often distant shareholders.

Richard has more than 50 years of experience in all forms of co-operative enterprise and apart from Chairing the Co-operative Federation, he is Deputy Chair of Regional Development Mid North Coast, a member of the Executive Council of NSW Farmers, and a Fellow of both the Institute of Public Accountants and the National Tax Agent's Association.

He has had extensive involvement in local community organisations, where he has a commitment to provide an independent voice and good governance.

Joining us in conversation this morning to discuss how the pandemic has severely impacted young workers and the importance of unions in their future, we would like to welcome to the show, Bella Himmelreich, and Rachel Burgess from the Young Workers Centre with Unions ACT

Bella Himmelreich is an organiser and Administration Officer at the Young Workers Centre in Canberra, and a student at the ANU. She is passionate about getting young people active in their local communities and fighting collectively for a better future.

Rachel Burgess is the Outreach Coordinator and organiser at the Young Workers Centre in Canberra, and is also a student at the ANU. She is studying economics and policy studies and is interested in working alongside others to organise better outcomes for young people.
