Mo Wine - Wine, Mishaps and More

Align Me With Alicante Bouchet

Listen Later

In tonight's show, we are tasting Alicante Bouchet which is originally from the Languedoc- Roussillon region in France. Henri Bouchet planted the grape in the mid-1800s and comes from the red-fleshed Teinturier grape variety. It has also found great success in Spain and Portugal. Teinturier literally means “dry” and is a cross between Petit Bouchet and Grenache.

We are having the 2017 Coelheiros from Portugal. It boasts a beautiful deep purple hue with an intense nose of black fruits, olives, and chocolate with a spicy finish. It is a bold wine that has 14% alcohol and should be prepared with a hearty vegetarian meal and grains or. Perhaps some lamb or BBQ.

This will be one of the times where you can definitely break out your finest decanter and let it breathe for 30 or so minutes. Yanno I like my big girl wines and this wine is like is thicker than a snicker, which might pair well with this as well.
