Today we explore how easy it is to get off course from what is truly important- God's presence, our most important connection. We lead you in an exercise in how to refresh his presence- which is always available to us, as we navigate life's roadblocks.

Are you aware you are in a spiritual battle for your soul, and that you have a part to play in that battle? Does your church train you how to fight? Did you know that God wants you to learn to use the weapons He has given you?  Luke 10:19 states that God has given you authority over ALL the power of the enemy so that NOTHING will injure you. As we learn to take up the weapons He has given us, we can be victorious in areas of our lives we deemed hopeless. If this is unfamiliar territory to you, welcome to your first training! Include lying (John 8:32, 44), anger (Ephesians 4:26–27),, sin of all kinds, (Ephesians 2:12; 1 John 3:8–10), accusations and insinuations (Revelation 12:10), temptation (1 Corinthians 7:5; 1 Thessalonians 3:5), contact with the occult (Deuteronomy 18:10–13), and drug and alcohol abuse (Galatians 5:21).

Checklist of past activities for people to examine to determine possible occult footholds:  

• Contact with occult activity (Deuteronomy 18:9–13)

• Personal invitation for demonic guidance and help (2 Corinthians 11:4), such as from a “spirit guide”

• Drug and alcohol abuse involvement (Ephesians 4:20–22)

• Perpetual sin (Ephesians 4:27), such as porn, or any addiction

• Idolatry (Exodus 20:5–6)

Identity issues- this could be gender identity, confusion about your gifting and calling, your purpose, your role in life, etc….the enemy really goes after this…

• An undisciplined or “out of control” mind (2 Corinthians 10:3–5)

• Sexual sin

Do you find stubborn patterns in your life that hinder you from experiencing God's full victory he has won on the cross for you?  Maybe they're lies or fears you've believed about yourself, God or others. In this podcast you'll learn where they come from, and the authority God has given you over them. The exercise will walk you through a prayer to begin taking back those areas from the enemy. It will also review misunderstandings that many Christians have in walking out their true authority over darkness to let God shine through them with his message to the world. Bottom line: Learning basic spiritual warfare is a much needed skill in recognizing when we are getting tempted to not focus on Jesus.  Nonetheless, God teaches us that our focus needs always to be on God and that our "names are written in heaven".

God loves to give us good things, He is a Giver!   But when it comes to asking for what we need, we can take our focus off of God's generous nature and get into errors that make it hard for us to receive the blessings He has for us.  Some of these are forgetting our needs and not asking at all, asking with a demanding posture or one that is transactional and not relational, and we can also sometimes give up asking if our prayers are not answered. This podcast will help you to find a healthy balance in how we approach a Holy God to meet our needs.

Bob and Denice discuss 9 barriers to hearing God's voice that we have found prevalent among those we have worked with.  They are: 1)  Unbelief, that is not believing God wants to talk to us in any other way than through the Bible,  2) Not being able to quiet our minds 3) Not being grateful, 4) Filtering what we hear  5) Distractions  6) Lack of Deep Surrender 7) Past or present involvement with the occult, knowingly or unknowingly, 8) Family of origin wounds and 9) Unforgiveness.
