What if the biggest thing standing in the way of your healing isn’t what happened to you—but the story you’re still telling yourself about your life?
In this solo episode of Aligned AF: Real Talk for the Evolving Soul, Yahweh Kent explores self-deception, emotional healing, spiritual growth, radical honesty, and the uncomfortable truths we sometimes avoid in order to stay comfortable.
We tell ourselves things like:
“I’m fine.”
“I’m happy here.”
“This relationship works.”
“I don’t have a choice.”
“That’s just who I am.”
“I’m staying because…”
“Someday I’ll change it.”
But what happens when those explanations stop being true and become stories we use to protect ourselves from something we already know?
The Lies We Live is a deep look at the stories we unconsciously build around relationships, identity, fear, old wounds, difficult choices, and even spirituality itself. Yahweh explores why self-deception often begins as protection, how a survival strategy can eventually become a prison, and why healing sometimes requires us to stop asking only “What happened to me?” and begin asking:
“What am I still participating in?”
This episode also takes an honest look at spiritual bypassing and some of the phrases we use in spiritual communities:
“Everything happens for a reason.”
“I’ve forgiven them.”
“I’m protecting my peace.”
“I’m trusting divine timing.”
Those beliefs can be deeply meaningful—but sometimes spiritual language can also give us beautiful ways to avoid anger, grief, responsibility, difficult conversations, or choices we’re afraid to make.
And then there’s the body.
What does your body already know that your mind keeps trying to negotiate with?
The exhaustion around certain people. The relief when plans are canceled. The tension surrounding something you keep insisting is “fine.” Sometimes our bodies begin telling the truth long before we're ready to say it out loud.
This isn't an episode about judging yourself for the choices you've made or blowing up your life in the name of “healing.”
It's about something much simpler—and much harder:
Being honest with yourself.
Because radical honesty without compassion becomes cruelty.
Compassion without honesty becomes enabling.
Healing needs both.
You don't have to change your entire life today.
You don't have to have all the answers.
Maybe the first step is simply asking yourself:
Where in my life am I working really hard to convince myself of something?
Sit with that one.
Because truth doesn't always make life easier.
But it finally makes an honest life possible.
