Here's a special Friday bonus for my "All Over the Place" community. Every now and then, I'd like to share conversations from The Front Page as an added benefit of your subscription, and this week's interview felt like the perfect place to start.

I sit down with journalist Garrison Hayes for a thoughtful conversation about Power, Politics & the Black Vote. We discuss the shifting political landscape, voter engagement, the strategies shaping Black political influence, and what the headlines often miss about this moment.

I hope you enjoy this conversation, and I hope it adds a little extra value to your subscription. Thanks for being part of this community, and for supporting the work that makes conversations like these possible.

Have a wonderful weekend, and I'll see you next week.

  • Black Women Were the Canaries in the Graham Platner Coalmine

    Send us Fan Mail

Black women saw the warning signs around Graham Platner long before many others did. Instead of asking why they were concerned, too many people dismissed those concerns as divisive, irresponsible, or politically inconvenient. Now, with serious allegations emerging, I want to revisit that moment and ask a bigger question: Why are Black women's instincts so often questioned until it's too late?

In this episode, I explore the history behind that pattern, why credibility is so unevenly distributed in our politics, and what this moment reveals about who we choose to believe.

Normally, episodes like this are reserved for my premium subscribers, but I'm making this one available to everyone as a preview of what you'll receive as an All Over the Place premium subscriber.

If you enjoy thoughtful, historically grounded conversations that go beyond the headlines, consider subscribing. Premium members receive three exclusive audio podcasts every week, where I take a deeper look at the news, politics, history, and the issues shaping our culture. I hope you'll join me.

  • Press Freedom, Political Violence & Trump: Georgia Fort Tells the Truth

    Send us Fan Mail

Independent journalist Georgia Fort joins Dara Starr Tucker for a powerful conversation on the state of journalism, threats to press freedom, political violence, and the urgent fight to protect democracy.

From her firsthand experience covering protests in Minneapolis and being targeted while reporting, to her perspective on the White House Correspondents’ Dinner security scare, Georgia breaks down why independent journalism matters now more than ever. She discusses the growing attacks on the free press, the dangers of misinformation, the role mainstream media has played in amplifying propaganda, and why truth-telling has become one of the most important acts of resistance in this political moment.

The conversation also explores the gutting of the Voting Rights Act, Project 2025, voter suppression, racial backlash in American politics, and what citizens must be willing to do to protect democracy before it slips away.

This is an honest, urgent, and necessary discussion about power, accountability, race, media, and the future of this country.

    Send us Fan Mail

Can social media reshape a political race? And what do voters really need to know before heading to the polls?

In this episode, Dara Starr Tucker sits down with Arielle Fodor (Mrs. Frazzled), a former educator turned political commentator, to break down the rapidly evolving California gubernatorial race.

    • The current state of the race and who the strongest candidates are
    • How California’s “top-two” primary system could lead to unexpected outcomes

    • And the controversy surrounding Eric Swalwell, including allegations that have impacted his campaign and the role social media played in bringing attention to them
