All protocols ready for all grades to go back to school - Basic Education Dept

As the World Health Organization has urged African countries to put solid COVID-19 prevention measures in place before the reopening of learning institutions, South African schools are set to welcome back more learners starting this week. In July, President Cyril Ramaphosa had announced that learning would be suspended for four weeks, as Coronavirus infections continued to rise across the country. Grades 7 and 12 have resumed classes following the break. They will be joined by Grades R, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 11 from today (MONDAY). Some teacher unions have raised concerns that rural and township schools still do not meet requirements necessary to reduce the risk of Coronavirus infections.
