The presidential race entered Friday morning without a clear winner, as key states continued to count votes. Former Vice President Joe Biden emerged with a 1,100 vote lead in Georgia, and President Trump’s tally in Pennsylvania continues to shrink. The president pressed his case in the courts in key states.

As if this nailbiter presidential election needed more drama, the race to 270 electoral votes for President Trump and vice president Joe Biden comes down to four battleground states. The vote totals are tightening and tensions are rising, as demonstrators in different cities take to the streets to chat “count the vote” and “stop the count.”

Democrat Joe Biden on Wednesday drew closer to the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency after flipping Wisconsin and Michigan, two battleground states Donald Trump won in 2016. Still, the 2020 election was not the “blue wave” Democrats had hoped for, and whichever candidate is the next president will lead a still deeply divided country.

Without a clear winner in the presidential race, the morning after Election Day offers no relief to the dread many Americans have been feeling for months. A recent survey by the American Psychological Association found that nearly 70% of U.S. adults, regardless of party affiliation, feel this year’s presidential election is a significant source of anxiety.

The race for president remains undecided as neither Donald Trump nor Joe Biden has reached the 270 electoral votes needed to win. Key states, including Pennsylvania and Michigan, are still counting millions of absentee ballots.

A record-shattering 3.4 million of Ohio’s nearly 8.1 million registered voters cast their ballots this year before Election Day. As polls open on the final day of voting, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose predicts total voter turnout could be as high as 75%.

Two associates of former Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder last week pleaded guilty to federal charges in an alleged $61 million bribery scheme to pass a nuclear bailout bill. Hours later, First Energy, the company believed to have bankrolled the scheme, fired its CEO and two top executives.
