Sewage overflow is an issue in the U.S. The EPA estimates that each year as many as 75,000 sanitary sewers overflow across the country, dumping untold gallons of untreated sewage into U.S. Waterways. The City of Columbus in 2005 adopted a plan to address the overflow by expanding the size of the sewers.
