We begin the story of Joseph, and learn how he was betrayed in multiple ways. Genesis makes a point of showing us, however, that God was with him and blessing him through it all!
Jacob finally learns to live in faith, and begins to understand that the God who has been with him all along will continue to be with him and his family in death as well.
Jacob is afraid of his brother Esau, who he fears still wants to kill him. In the middle of the night, Jacob (literally) wrestles God! He will never be the same after this encounter.
A story of how God uses conflict, betrayal, and pain to bring about his purposes!
Jacob encounters God in a way that he never had before.
This week's passage is preached by guest speaker Steve Kaptain, a missionary to Nepal. After the death of Sarah, Abraham finds a burial place for his wife, and Isaac finds love in an unlikely way.
God gives Abraham the most difficult test any father could face. But, at the last second, the Lord provides a plan b for his faithful servant.
As Father Abraham continues to mess up, we see the Lord blessing him nonetheless. God also chooses to bless the people Abraham comes into contact with, showing that even when we don't stick to the plan, God does.
(warning: although not explicit, the details of this passage contain adult content that may be jarring to some listeners) In a rare display of active wrath, God brings judgment on the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah because of their extreme sin. But even amidst the fire and sulfur, we witness his amazing patience and grace!
You have as much faith as you have laughter.
