Outreach astronomer Neill Sanders founded nonprofit Go Stargazing to make stargazing more accessible. ATE asked him to share his story and top tips for getting to know your dark skies.

Clothing can cause many barriers when trying to access the UK outdoors. We asked Steph Wetherell , the co-founder of Every Body Outdoors, to explain some of ways it can stop people getting outside, and explore some of the solutions that advocates and allies are discovering.

It’s one of the most talked about areas of diversity in society as a whole, and the conversation in the outdoors is no different. But how can we practically support more inclusion from a gender perspective within outdoors spaces? “Alternative Outdoor Careers: Emma Harrison mixes Mountain Leader, Life Coach and Disability Advocate” is written by Francesca Turauskis, read by Francesca Turauskis and Emma Harrison, audio produced by Francesca Turauskis.

After a spinal-cord injury, Emma Harrison noticed how difficult it was to access the mountains with a physical disability, and decided to work on solutions. She’s combined her experience of disability with a Mountain Leader qualification and her training as a life coach to create her business Echo Outdoors, which offers slow paced walks.

All The Elements’ Content Manager, Francesca Turauskis spoke with Emma about how she realised this career was an option for her, the difficulties she has found during the standard mountain training options, and how her life coaching skills bring an extra level to her guided walks.

Our first episode features a monologue talk from Jasmine Isa Qureshi (they/she), a journalist, writer and marine/queer ecologist. Jasmine deconstructs and demystifies the toxicity of colonialism, normativity and patriarchy in ecological and biological practice, before starting to regrow our understanding based on queer theory, indigenous teachings and ancestral storytelling.
