Deciding whether or not to have kids is a tough decision to make and this isn't spoken about openly enough. For me, I always wanted and assumed I would one day have kids and I just happened to wait long enough to where I knew a lot more about the world, and I really enjoyed my life. Things are peaceful for me and my husband in our mid-30s- something we didn't really have in childhood so we've been really struggling to choose 100% yes or no to this.
Heads up: I mention abortion in this episode.
While it might be clear from listening to this episode that I have way more reasons to NOT want kids than to say yes, it's still really difficult to make that permanent decision.
This is me vulnerably reading out my list of reasons to not have kids both because I know there's at least one other person that will benefit from hearing this and because I just don't want to think about this anymore. For me, it feels like I still have time at 35 so I'm going to stop obsessing and will revisit this decision sometime after I turn 36.
Conversations like this don't happen often enough and it's still considered by a lot of people a taboo to not have kids. But the most important thing is that you are making a choice that YOU would be happy with in your life. Thanks for reading this and I hope you enjoy the episode!
