Early Sunday morning, Mary Magdalene and some

other women walked into the garden where Jesus

had been buried.

They saw that the soldiers were gone, the stone

was rolled back, and the tomb was empty! Mary

turned and ran to the disciples. She told them,

“They’ve taken the body of Jesus and we don’t

know where it is!”

Roman soldiers led Jesus to a place called The

Skull. He and two criminals were nailed on to

crosses, with Jesus in the middle.

After the crosses were put into place, he

prayed, “Father, forgive them! They don’t know

what they’re doing.”

esus was taken to Pilate for trial. He asked the

religious leaders, “What’s he guilty of?”

“He says he’s a king. He’s a rebel against

Caesar.”

Pilate turned to Jesus, “Are you the King of the

Jews?”

Guards took Jesus to the home of the high priest.

Peter followed at a distance. Once there, he sat

by a charcoal fire in the middle of the courtyard. A

servant girl said, “Aren’t you one of his disciples?”

“No … no, I’m not.”

“All of you will abandon me tonight.”

“Lord, I’ll never desert you, even if everyone

else does.”

Jesus and his disciples celebrated Passover

together. During the meal, Jesus got up and took

off his coat. He wrapped a towel around his waist

and poured water into a basin. He started washing

the feet of his disciples.

Jesus saw a fig tree in the distance. But it had no

fruit on the tree, just leaves. So he said, “You’ll

never produce fruit again.” The next morning,

the disciples were amazed to see the tree was

shriveled up.

While Jesus and his disciples were eating a meal,

Mary poured expensive oil on the feet of Jesus and

wiped them with her hair. The house was filled with

the smell of the perfumed oil.
