Words can’t describe how awful John is. I would have walked out at the first red flag. Please don’t put up with these monsters.

Maybe some people should be a forever DM if they don’t want to play when they get the opportunity!!

If you have a toxic person in your group, bring it up to the DM. Communication goes a long way, especially if they are ruining the game for everyone else in the group. Good riddance, Dave.

Googling your DM is something I had never considered before…but because of this story I may just need to start doing that in the future if I’m playing with new people…

I’m so happy that the DMPC got murdered even after trying to cheat their way to some ridiculous roleplaying victory. Remember your character, your choices. Don’t let a DM control your character.

Unrealistic expectations and DND, name a more iconic duo. I am glad that they managed to sort out the drama and move past the initial mistake the DM made.

It’s a really tough position to be in. Critical Role has introduced DND to a massive audience that has helped grow our awesome gaming community. But at the same time people tend to forget that DMs aren’t always as amazing as a professional voice actor, shocking I know. So cut your DM a break, lower those expectations a hair and try to put yourself in their shoes. They do a lot to make the game possible.

I would disagree with the original poster. I think it is a juicy ending. I would much rather prefer that problems were solved with a proper discussion and maturity. It’s hard to talk about our feelings so it’s great to see it work out for everyone and this group of players gets to continue their adventures together, and for the better.

I don’t have any experience with pay to play games. Has anyone here participated? Or hosted? What was your experience like with it. Would you consider pay to play a better level of gameplay or was it a giant rip off and you decided to run your games because of the experience?
