Show Notes
In this episode, Sandi speaks with Kim Marsh, Founder of The Open Book Company & Writing / Book Coach.
Kim shifted from corporate life as a VP of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion & Communications to found her company. Kim talks about the ‘beautiful no’s’ that led her to the ah-ha moment when she decided to start her company. She first started as a freelance writer as a side gig while working full-time.
Kim shares that when people told her she was finally living her dream, that didn’t quite resonate with her. Kim shares that she realized:
“It’s not that I’m living my dream, but now I get to dream.”
Kim had people ask her to help them with career writing (LinkedIn bios, resumes, articles, and books). Her clients held a mirror up to her to where she was adding value.
In Kim’s coaching and writing circles authors, coaches, entrepreneurs, inspirational speakers, and "but-I'm-not-really-a-writer" writers learn how to find, hone, and use their voice. Kim coaches clients through mindset issues and has created a safe space where they can share (or choose not to share) work.
The top two challenges she sees with many clients are 1) carving out time to write and 2) imposter syndrome and related mindset issues.
Tune in to the episode to learn more about her supportive community.
