Dedicated in loving memory to my dear friend, David Colbert. All things shining.
In this episode, we discuss how we want to be remembered. Not just when we pass away, but in daily interactions. Are we a hero or a villain?
We have more impact than we realize. Our words matter.
My Grandma once said, "Don't take compliments to the grave."
If you have someone in your life that has impacted you, inspired you, pushed you to grow. Tell them how much they mean to you. Don't let them go throughout their life not knowing how much they matter.
Don't forget to use #mydavid or #allthingsshining so that we can celebrate those people who have impacted your life with you.

Here is a message from David's friend Matt.
I will never forget sitting in a pledge meeting at the fraternity David and I were joining together at Ole Miss. At the end of the meeting, active members were tormenting all of us pledges and asking us to do ridiculous acts, chores, etc. David looked at me and said, “What are we doing Matty? We don’t need this.” The two of us quickly escaped to my car and sped away. I’m sure our escape route ended somewhere enjoying a cold beer and discussing life. Just like that, our fraternity days were short lived. David took me under his wing and helped me quickly realize to stop caring so much about what people think, to be myself, and to enjoy the brotherhood and fellowship of friends that life would naturally bestow upon me. David had no fear and lived life to its absolute fullest. He had no reservation about following his instincts, often even on a whim. This allowed him to live in many different places, experience new things, and make many friends around the world. Most importantly, David never forgot about the friends he made throughout his journey. I hope the streets of gold have speed limits that share a similar leniency to those of Texas. I’m sure he’s up there with a big truck cruising in the wind, writing the next chapter of his journey.-----
Overcoming Together is a podcast that serves as a platform to dive deeper and has real, honest conversations about mental health. Covering a range of topics from pregnancy, parenthood, stress, depression, anxiety, postpartum depression, and/or postpartum anxiety, loss, and more. My goal is to help provide support with practical tips, tools, and advice. To motivate and inspire anyone who is struggling and feels alone. I hope that by speaking more openly about mental illness we can work towards changing the stigma around mental health. Bringing awareness and advocating for change. Mental health matters, you matter. You’re not alone.
