All Up In It with DaVida Chanel

What’s up yall it’s your girl DaVida Chanel and while I create content about my hair, food, tv, books, movies, workouts, all things Housewives and this life thing as a woman of a certain age, my true passion is writing. I write narrative and have been working on a memoir for 50-11 years…A LONG TIME! This book explores my coming of age in Plaquemine, Louisiana (you already know – the city NOT the parish) in the early 90s. This book is moving at its own pace but I’m a storyteller so I had to find a way to share some of these memories that don’t quite fit or that just simply cannot wait until my process is over and are nagging at me to let them out into the world. And what better place than to share a word or two than from my sofa. Growing up, I spent most of my time on the sofa and to this day it’s where I feel most comfortable so yeah there it is. And in an effort to continue my podcast, ALL UP IN IT, why not get all up in my own ish from time to time ya know! So tune into the first segment of Sofa Stories where I get all up into the concept and reality of double cousins. I really enjoyed writing and sharing this essay and think it's a good fit for ALL UP IN IT! ENJOY!!!!

What's up yall it's your girl DaVida Chanel and I started 2024 with a mission in mind: Healing my fibroids was the order of the day. I got to attend a three day retreat with the amazing healer, speaker, teacher, QUEEN AFUA!!! That's right, we sat in the presence of the author of SACRED WOMAN and got all the tea on how to heal (spoiler alert: the power is within you!!!). I attended with two of my homegirls (Havilah Malone and Nicole Lovince) and today we'll get all into what happened on our journey as well as the 12 weeks after leaving.  This episode gets all up into our experience and the joys of healing with the crew!

So I've been all up in my head! Life is lifing and I'm just doing over here doing my best to figure it all out. While contemplating, I have been getting out in these streets and this week I had the opportunity to do so with my girl, Lyndsey Beaulieu. Lyndsey is an Executive Producer of ABC's 9-1-1 and sat to talk with me for my series "Black Women Writers Who Work". The series is based on the book "Black Women Writers At Work" and this was my second event held and the Soho House. This conversation was filled with so much inspiration, I had to share with you all. And since we're some Black Women who know how to chat, it's enough for a couple eps. So go ahead and get all up the second portion of our talk!
