Alliance Blog Podcast: Interviews with Independent Wrestlers and Wrestling Personalities

Tuesday– the much-anticipated footage from Australia dropped on the NWA YouTube Channel. Besides an opportunity to defend the World Junior Heavyweight Championship internationally and give some exposure to some of the younger talents on the roster, the NWA is also The #SOUTHERN6. It seems as if the NWA was showing their hands at the Crockett Cup by having Thrillbilly Silas Mason step over Pollo Del Mar on Night 1 to having Alex Taylor in his corner on Night 2.

With other stables in the NWA seemingly fading from the spotlight, the Southern Six be the next big thing?

Plus we’ll discuss the results of POWERRR and discuss the lead to NWA 75.

Now let’s talk about POWERRR.

The Alliance Guys Podcast has entered its 15th year, spotlighting the talents affiliated with the NWA and the United Wrestling Network. Breaking down the news and information for the NWA and the UWN; Jay Cal DKM, Jaden, and former World Jr. Heavyweight Champion.

“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” Amidst controversy for the National Wrestling Alliance and ownership in flux, 50 Caliber would defeat Mr. USA to become the tenth man to hold the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion of the National Wrestling Alliance, during the Bruce Tharpe era. This match took place on August 12th, 2017, in Dyersburg Tennessee, a mere fifty days before the announcement would be made official that Billy Corgan had purchased the National Wrestling Alliance and would seal all championship histories with the exception. Tim Storm would continue his title run. Later Jazz would continue her recognition as champion. The same opportunity wasn’t provided for Barrett Brown.

The NWA would showcase the man, who did not lose his title at the 70th Anniversary Show at their 70th Anniversary Show a year later when he defeated Laredo Kid. Many felt that this might lead to more opportunities for Brown. It did not. When POWERRR premiered in 2019, again many thought the opportunities would present themselves to former NWA Champions. This did not happen. And even after the NWA reintroduced the World Junior Heavyweight Championship, no opportunities were made available.

Barrett Brown has only ever asked for an opportunity. Those pleas have landed on deaf ears. June 23rd, the Stray Dog finally gets the opportunity that has alluded him. On this day, Brown hopes to regain a title he never lost. This will be the date when Barrett Brown will finally get the attention of the National Wrestling Alliance.

Join us for a very special episode of the Alliance Guys Podcast where Barrett Brown will rejoin this show to make his intentions known to NWA Fans Everywhere.

It takes an act of Congress to host a show that features all of the Alliance Guys. But that’s what we’re doing tonight. In celebration and preparation of this year's Crockett Cup, Scooby, Jeremy, and Tim join DKM, Jaden, and Jay Cal to preview this year's Crockett Cup.

We’ll be doing some bracketology and talking about who’s in and who’s out. Plus we’ll take a look at the other matches at the Cup. Will Thrillbilly walk away as your new National Champion? Can Kamille withstand the onslaught of Markova? And who will challenge Kenzie for the TV Championship?

Plus we’ll break down this week’s episode of NWA POWERRR.

But for a blink of an eye, Magnum Muscle were nearly World Tag Team Champions. “BulletProof” Blake Troop sends a statement ahead of the Cup. And Stevens gets locked up. But what does all this mean for the NWA going forward. Tonight we’ll discuss the events of NWA POWERRR.

Looking at the brackets for the Crockett Cup we see a few new teams to the NWA. Sent to Slaughter is one of these teams. The NWA was introduced to Dan Maff in 2019 as part of the Hard Times PPV that crowned a new NWA World Television Champion. Tonight, Jay Cal wants to introduce you to Shawn Donavan. The other half of the team that is seated 17th. Jay and Shawn will discuss wrestling in the North East, competing for the NWA, Chris Candido, and what could only be considered the sleeper tag team of the Crockett Cup, Sent to Slaughter.  Please join for this very spirited conversation.

On that night Kerry Morton will defend the NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Championship, in a venue that hasn’t seen that title defended since September 2015.

We will also discuss with Tony about the NWA today. We’ll also be covering this week's NWA POWERRR in full detail.  Is Kenzie still the champion? What about those tune-up matches? The National Wrestling Alliance takes the long road to Winston-Salem for the Crockett Cup 2023. Each step brings the NWA to an eventual Crockett Cup Tournament Champion. Who is the greatest tag team in the NWA and the NWA adjacent? We’ll find out on June 2nd and June 3rd.

On tonight’s Episode of The Alliance Guys Podcast, we will be joined by a good friend of the show and the head honcho of PWZ, Rick Del Santo. Much like us, Rick is a big fan of the NWA and he’ll give his unique insights and thoughts on the state of the National Wrestling Alliance, The Crockett Cup, and of course this week's POWERRR.

Who left POWERRR as TV Champion? Was the team of Tyrus and Adonis any good? Why was Ricky Morton clowning around with Yabo?  All this and more!

Mikey O'Shea as been a part of the Southern California Wrestling scene since 2009 when he first appeared for Battle Ground Pro Wrestling. Since then he has been not only a mainstay in Southern California but was an integral part of West Coast Wrestling Connection in Oregon, spent some significant time in Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, and is currently looking to expand his horizons in professional wrestling.

I have never known Kamille to ever back down from a fight. Markova gave Kamille everything she’s got… but with the crowd clamoring for more time, Kamille took the Burke and left. Could this be something more than general fatigue? Is this foreshadowing? Let’s talk about it.

Plus we know now that both La Rebelion and the Country Gentlemen will be in the Crockett Cup. The Champions have byes. We also know that Magnum Muscle (Dak Draper and Mims) The SVGS (Jax Dane and Blake Troop) and the team of Murdoch and Knox will all be in the Crockett Cup. We can assume that Kerry and Ricky will be in the tournament. And we can only assume Tyrus and his mystery partner will be in. But who else do you think will be in the Cup?

We’ll also break down this week's POWERRR and discuss the show. Did the champions prevail? Is there turmoil in Idolmania Sports Management?  All this and more on tonight’s episode of The Alliance Guys Podcast. We go live at 8 PM Eastern, 5 PM Pacific.
