Alliance Blog Podcast: Interviews with Independent Wrestlers and Wrestling Personalities

Fred Slow is an Albuquerque-based sports broadcaster and professional wrestling promoter who founded Duke City Championship Wrestling (DCCW) in 2023. He later led the promotion into the National Wrestling Alliance as NWA New Mexico, making it one of the NWA's officially recognized regional territories.  Before his work with DDCW, he had been an on-air radio personality in both New Mexico and his home state of Missouri.

He launched DCCW to build up the local independent wrestling scene in Albuquerque to emphasize the local talent and produce live events that would cater to the community.

Fred speaks to Jay about joining the National Wrestling Alliance and what he envissions for the NWA going forward.

Not too many talents under the NWA umbrella can say they have been with the company since day 1. Big Strong Mims was on the very first set of NWA POWER Tapings and was actually working various duties for the NWA all the way back to the 70th Anniversary Show.

In eight years with the National Wrestling Alliance, Mims is a former NWA National Heavyweight Champion and NWA Television Champion. Back in the 2021 era of the NWA, Mims sought out The Pope as a mentor. The two competed at the 2022 Crockett Cup. Shortly after that, Crockett Cup, the two went their separate ways, with the Pope leaving the company.

In the past few months, the two have come to an understanding and appear to be on the same page. Jay Cal discusses this new alliance with Mims, the art of tag-team wrestling, overcoming imposter syndrome, and what's next for Big Strong Mims.

Paul Pratt wears many hats. A producer, a writer, a ringside commentator, a manager, and, to be fair, probably about a dozen or more contributions to the world of wrestling and the National Wrestling Alliance. Before he ever wrote an article or produced a talent, he was a fan.

Paul is very candid about the National Wrestling Alliance and discusses his point of view both as an employee of the NWA and as a fan. Paul has made several appearances on our weekly pre-party live stream.

The National Wrestling Alliance airs its weekly program POWERRR, on Saturdays at 4 PM Eastern and Pacific, with a midnight replay.

It's Gut-Check Time isn't just a catchphrase; it is the killer mentality that Mike Mondo brings to every aspect of life. Pro Wrestling, Body Building, you name it. Mike Mondo puts the same intensity into the ring as he does into his physical training and preparation for the ring.

During the course of his conversation with Jay Cal, Mike Mondo talks about what brought him to the National Wrestling Alliance, partnering with Slade, and what's next in store for the Wrestling Machines and the Federation of Champions.

The Southern Six is in shambles. Even before Kerry Morton turned his back on Silas Mason during his NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship Match, signs were starting to show during the Crockett Cup. Although Morton and Taylor won the 2024 Crockett Cup, they were unable to advance to the semi-finals of the 2026 Tournament.

Taylor became a regular for the National Wrestling Alliance in 2021, where he instantly became a player for the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship. After a stint in the tag team, The Ill Begotten, Taylor would find brotherhood in the Land Down Under, becoming the cornerstone of the Southern Six. 2024 would be one of the most successful years for Taylor in the NWA, winning the Crockett Cup Tournament with Kerry Morton and later winning the World Junior Heavyweight Championship by defeating Joe Alonzo. Taylor would obtain more gold again with partner Morton when they won the NWA US Tag Team Championships from the Country Gentlemen.

In this interview, Jay Cal and Alex Taylor discuss wrestling in the Volunteer State, Taylor's start in the Black and Brave Academy, the greatness that is Jeremiah Plunkett, and their kinship with Danny Dealz.

Take up space. Accidentally living out her dreams was the message we received from Big Mama on her last appearance on the podcast. But since then, Big Mama has continued to forge her own path in the world of sport. A new sense of confidence exudes from the champion as she carries the United Wrestling Network women's championship to new territories and has defended her title throughout the promotions that make up the United Wrestling Network.

Mama also speaks about being a role model for athletes that look like her and being an inspiration to young women who want to become professional wrestlers.

Plus, Big Mama has begun making appearances for TNA. She debuted earlier this year for TNA's Xplosion.
