Welcome to my first ever podcast, which contains information based on nutrition and exercise science. Calories and macros are terms we've all heard before, but what exactly is a calorie? How do we count how many we've burned or expended and how do we quantify them? In this episode, I answer these and other topics.
Here's a quick rundown of everything we'll be discussing:
The different macronutrients and why they are all essential: carbs, fats and proteins.
Why keto is probably not a healthy diet for you
Why cardio burns more calories than weights
How do we calculate the number of calories in foods?
How do we know how many calories we've expended?
Why your smartaches active calories in inaccurate
I've included a trigger warning in this episode; if discussing calories makes you feel uncomfortable or disturbed, please avoid this one! I will add, however, that I do explain and emphasise that food is nourishing and that energy is necessary for survival!! Low-calorie or starvation diets are not something I advocate or condone. FOOD IS FUEL!!
