Forgive Me! began as a simple idea from series cocreator Jack Marone: to mine the sometimes funny, sometimes awkward, and often confusing anecdotes from his Catholic school upbringing and craft the kind of podcast that could make him laugh and that his still-practicing family members could be proud of. After pitching the idea to Windfall cocreator Bob Raymonda in 2015, the series sat on the back burner until 2018, when Rogue Dialogue’s first show was in postproduction and the team was hungry for new ideas that featured fewer characters but just as much heart.
