In 1977, Carl Edward Sagan the famous 20th-century astrophysicist gave a series of six lectures at the royal institution during which he spoke on our planet’s space in the cosmos and detailed the prospects of venturing out into the unknown. The lectures are available on YouTube and can be found easily by searching “Sagan’s Christmas lectures”.

The Christmas of 2021 can also be marked as historic. From lectures, we have now moved towards concrete actions and what has happened a few days ago will have an immense impact on the future understanding of the ever-expanding cosmos. The James Webb space telescope (or JWST) has been finally launched on the 25th of December 2021.
