We often see the disciples as those that got Jesus right away, the truth is, they often misunderstood who he was. They’ve just witnessed the feeding of the 5000 and now out on the water, with a head wind, Jesus walks towards them and they think he’s a ghost. Jesus' intent to walk by is not about ignoring their situation, it’s about the intent to reveal who he is. He responds with, it is I. We might think we get Jesus but really, it’s the progression of each encounter getting to know more of who he is.
