  • Don't Call it a Comeback
"It's the sides of the mountains which sustain life, not the top. Here's where things grow."
It is safe to say that the past month has been a bit challenging. Unfortunately, the podcast came into an unexpected hurdle, and we had to do a complete rebrand. With that has come an opportunity to shift gears, and I'm thrilled to announce Along the Keel.
We will continue to tell the stories about those who aren't afraid to get a little salty on their day to day grind. I hope you stick around and tune in to the show, with new episodes coming to your podcast feed starting September 1st.
If you haven't already, check out our new website and sign up for our first edition of the newsletter! Big thanks, Captain Zach.

  • #029 Manta Racks
If you're someone that likes to water ski, wakeboard, paddleboard,  and want to expand your experience on the water than a Manta Rack might just be the next purchase for your boat. After a day wakeboarding with his son, Tim Wilhelm was tired of having to find a spot to stow his wakeboard after a fun day out on the water. So, like the many others on this podcast, he decided to create one and designed the first version of the Manta Rack while working full time in his “corporate job”. Fast forward to 2020 and Tim is pursuing Manta Racks fulltime and gaining popularity among anglers, watersports enthusiasts, and even Jimmy Buffet!
Stay tuned to learn how Tim went from an idea to a storage system that is revolutionizing your boating experience. Don’t forget to like, share, subscribe, and leave a review; five stars goes a long way! Mahalo!

  • #028 Waterman Eco Challenge
I was fortunate to be joined by Brian Guadagno and his furry sidekick Doc, during the first-ever live episode of the podcast. Heading down to Narragansett Beach in beautiful Rhode Island, Brian and I sat and discussed the origins of the Waterman Eco-Challenge, an event inspired by his passion for surfing, paddling, and the waterman community. The event takes place annually and brings people from around the United States to one of Rhode Island’s most iconic beaches. It’s designed to challenge the most veteran paddlers, but also give those interested in the waterman community an opportunity to join in the fun. Best of all, every entry is a donation to the Janice ‘Mama C’ Causey Memorial Art Scholarship, that awards college-bound Narragansett High School students with scholarships towards their next endeavor. It’s an amazing event that truly embodies the waterman culture!

  • #027 BoatGrub
Amidst a global pandemic, Hugh Mitchell had just graduated from college and the job opportunities that he had lined up had all but disappeared due to the circumstances taking place around the world. Hugh decided to take a different approach and created his own job by incorporating his love of the water with a delivery service similar to GrubHub. Delivering food from restaurants in the Gloucester Massachusetts area with plans to expand, Hugh brings food directly to your marina, dock, or boat via his 15’ Boston Whaler. What better way to cap of a night than with a great meal delivered right to your boat!
It was an absolute pleasure chatting with Hugh and to learn more about how he took a negative situation and turned it into a positive!

  • #026 Yot Stik
After a long day tediously washing a yacht, David was for lack of a better word, "toasted". The heavy, scratch inducing, wash pole that we have all become accustomed to was cumbersome and outdated. So with a hack saw, some duck-tape, and prayer David cut into his expensive carbon fiber SUP paddle and fashioned it to the head of a brush. The idea quickly gained traction and pretty soon Yot Stik went from a way to solve his own personal problem to a company that has outfitted yachts with the carbon fiber poles from every corner of the globe!
Tune in to this week’s episode of Along The Keel to learn how David got his start and the yachting industry and how he would later revolutionize the way you wash your boat! Mahalo!

  • #025 Captain Kelsey Waliszewski
Did you know Humpback whales are found to be altruistic? Me neither, until I sat down with Captain Kelsey Waliszewski the founder and visionary for Moi Moi Market, boat captain extraordinaire, and host of the Talking Story Podcast. Kelsey lives on the Big Island of Hawaii and works as a boat captain for a local charter company, based in the town of Puako. Inspired by the Humpback whale’s altruistic behaviors Kelsey decided that she wanted to do more to help and created the Moi Moi market. A market place dedicated to supporting artisans that help solve social issues both domestic and abroad, many of which are ocean-related.
It was a pleasure having Kelsey on the show to talk more about what she is doing to help support our oceans and it’s the blue economy. Kelsey also invited me onto her podcast The Talking Story, so be sure to check it out after you listen to this episode of Along The Keel. Don’t forget to like, share, subscribe, and leave a review! • #024 Kona Snorkel Trips
At age seventeen Shari Scisko decided to grab her backpack and book a one-way flight to southern California where she built an extremely successful yacht management company. Shari eventually moved to Kona, Hawaii where she now owns Kona Snorkel Trips, a charter boat dedicated to providing the best manta-ray, whale watching, and snorkeling adventures on the island!
This episode is particularly special because I was fortunate enough to work for Shari during my time on the Big Island. It was great being able to catch up and share her story. Don’t forget to like share, subscribe, and leave a review! Mahalo!

  • #023 The Seabin Project
High-performance sailboat builder turned trash can maker. Peter Ceglinski, the co-founder of the Seabin Project, created the only floating rubbish bin made to remove marine debris, pollutants, plastic, and anything else that doesn’t belong floating in our oceans.
Deciding he needed a career change, Pete one day decided to jump into the deep end and create a company dedicated to cleaning our ocean, one Seabin at a time. To date, the Seabin Project has collected almost 1,000,000 kgs of debris around the world and is only getting started!
It was a real pleasure talking with Peter and learning how his relatively new company is changing the way we clean our ocean. Be sure to like, share, subscribe, and leave a review! Mahalo!

  • #022 Forrester Boatworks
On today’s episode of Along The Keel, I speak with Carson Forrester of Forrester Boatworks. Located in Suffolk Virginia, Carson builds custom boats, focusing mostly on skiffs and smaller vessels. Growing up, Carson spent summers in the Manteo, North Carolina an area where some of the most well-known boat builders call home. He would later become a captain and build a career in the sport fishing industry while simultaneously working as a fireman. It wasn’t a matter of if he would dip his toes into the boat building world, but only a matter of when. Carson has been fortunate to have family working at Buddy Davis and his career in the sport fishing community gave him a wealth of knowledge to start what has now become Forrester Boatworks.
Carson was a pleasure to speak with and I hope you enjoy learning more about this up and coming boat builder. Be sure to like, share, subscribe, and leave a five-star review! Mahalo!
