Episode 56: "Seasoned to Taste"

After a weekend spent making a favorite family recipe, JDK reflects on what the experience has him wondering about when it comes to our sense of self and our personal relationships. What "ingredients" do we have in ourselves and in our relationships that are required for the "dish" to work? When do we know when and how to add or subtract ingredients? What happens when we get tired of a "dish" for a while and need time away from it? Take a listen and see what comes up for you.

Greg continues to explain the benefits of mindful breathing and shares that he’s created a YouTube channel called, “Connection Through Awareness with Greg Kiper.” On it, is posted a guided version of the exercise he calls, “Finding Awareness” so anyone can try on their own time, in their own space. In today’s program he breaks the exercise down explaining the purpose behind each part of the process. To try it at home, go to https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYMK1j57uxuu7EN2r5v0pSQ

Whether it is their wonderful donors large and small who help keep Doney Coe going, or pet insurance providers like our guest from Trupanion, we are indeed family and we are all here to help each other. For this show we interviewed President of the Board of Directors Marti Casey who spoke in more detail about the important role ALL our donors play in making sure that pets of low income and homeless people can get care. And our guest Dr. Steven Weinrauch answered questions about the “quality medical insurance” that Trupanion provides, and how important it is that we are able to treat all pets who need help. Insurance helps make that more of a reality. Thank you Doney Coe and Trupanion.

Activism through Coaching Is a Grassroots Movement with Special Guests Anita Russell, Gail Hunter & Mavis Bauman

The journey towards anti-racism is not your typical journey. It requires critical self-reflection on two levels: (1) awareness of your own, thoughts, ideas, and beliefs about racism/anti-racism and (2) accountability for what emerges in your words, actions, and behaviors. The Activism through Coaching model is a grassroots process that facilitates personal transformation through critical self-reflection as a tool to eradicate racism. We use the Coin Analogy, Inflexion Point Podcast, and a mastermind approach to demonstrate application of the model.

In this episode, Tawny and JDK explore how breaking up with our BS stories starts with connecting to our autonomic nervous system - the “safety system” of our bodies. Connecting with this system can save us from burnout and disconnection with ourselves and others, and allows us to see that so much of life can be simpler than we often make it.
