THURSDAY, AUGUST 15 IS INDIA INDEPENDENCE DAY

*Consulate General of India in Seattle-Consul General Prakash Gupta is a career diplomat having served in several countries around the world and the United Nations. The Seattle Consulate opened on February 23, 2024. Consul General Gupta will comment on activities for India Independence Day (1947) Thursday, August 15.
*Debadutta Dash, is an Advisor to the Consul General Gupta. Dash was one of the founders of Washington State and India Trade Relations Action Committee (WASITRAC) an organization that supported trade between Washington State businesses and firms in India. He also served as a Commissioner, Washington State Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs (CAPAA).
*Ram Dixit, President, MLK Gandhi Empowerment Initiative has long work history in the technology industry and is using his expertise to technologically enable participants from under served communities in Martin Luther King Jr. County.
*Anjali Dixit is a second year student at the University of California at Berkeley where she is studying political science and economics. She is passionate about social justice. She was a member of the Seattle King County NAACP Youth Council and this summer served as an intern for Congressman Raj Krishnamoorthi (D) Illinois 8th Congressional District.
*Hayward Evans, Co Convener, Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration/Continuation Committee (MLKCC) provides updates for the 61st Anniversary of the August 28, 1963 March on Washington DC for Jobs and Freedom. The event will be held in Seattle on August 28 beginning at Holgate Street Church of Christ with a social hour beginning at 5:00 pm (PDT).
