How long did it take God to create reality as we know it?  For one reason or another, God went out of His way in His autobiography to give something of a time stamp.

If God is all-powerful, He COULD have created everything in an expanse of time so small that we would never in a million years of technological advancements be able to find a way to measure it.

So, why did He take His time?

Sometimes we get caught up in the specifics of the Creation narrative and miss some of the deeper things that God is inviting us into… Why would an all-powerful Creator, who could create everything instantly, take His time?

Have you ever created something that you were excited about? Have you ever loved something you were creating so much that you took your time and went slow just to take it in?

We're going back to the beginning, the very beginning. God and his creation. He created the ultimate paradise for us and Him to be together in. And yet we find ourselves trying to create "realities" of our own, in our brokenness.

We've twisted the purpose of the story of Jesus to make ourselves believe that he died because we suck! And that is not true.

We want to come back to the reality God set from the beginning. And we're starting it off on the celebration of the resurrection.

When we recognize that God really is all we need, we can be content with our earthly relationships in that we can love others well. We can be content with our employment, even if it's not what we thought we'd be doing. We can believe and rest in the faith that it's where God wants us. We can find a deep joy in life no matter what troubles come... the secret to ridding ourselves of our worry and anxiety is a consistent relationship with God.

What hurt do you carry that seems to penetrate your attitude, relationship, and/or decisions? We all experience deep hurt and we all carry the wounds of the past with us into our present and futures. But there is hope in healing, restoration. There is rejoicing that can come from tragedy. God invites us to come to him, weary and burdened, to find rest.

Our lives are always moving in the direction of our thoughts.. so what do your thoughts dwell on? Scripture or Social Media? God's truth or people's truth? It's an invitation to surrender your thoughts to God. This is our goal.

Possessions rob us of our joy when they become the destination rather than resources on our journey. We all too well know how much things take over our thoughts, our money, and our peace. They give us a sense of pride, accomplishment, and sometimes purpose. Things aren't bad in of themselves, God gives us things to enjoy in our life. But the idolatry of our things can ruin us. When we're making a mental, emotional, spiritual reset we must take a look at what the pursuit of things in our life is doing to our relationship with others, with ourselves, and with God.

Sometimes we look around our workspaces, the grocery store, our church, the gym... and we think "life would be better if it weren't for all these other people."  We want this world to change. We want the circumstances of our daily reality to be healed, but, often the thief of change and the thief of our joy is people. 

We look today at the writings of Paul in Philippians where he challenges US. He says that things are going to change, they have to start with our hearts, our actions, our “man in the mirror.”

God's Word, the 66 books that make up the Bible, is alive. It is still as powerful and relevant to us today as it was back in the day. But most of us aren't daily in His Word. Why?

And what happens when we open the Bible regularly? Today's message is about the intention of being in the Word. To not just go through the Bible chapter by chapter, but to let each word that is written go through us and our hearts.

Make the most of what belongs to God. What does that entail?

The Bible often has a much bigger view of what belongs to God, and how we can honor Him with it, than we do. Everything belongs to God. He created it all. And, what we have found is that He is unreasonably generous with what is His.  He gave His son to us after all and so much more.

So why does God as for us to give back? How hard is it for you to give away or hand out money or possessions you worked hard for? We become obsessed with our things and our gold. We hold tightly to what we've achieved and see it as a status of success. But God wants to release us from these chains of greed and envy.

When we give to others, we find our hearts peacefully and perfectly aligned with God's heart. Listen to today's message to know more.

 We live in expectation of God’s power to transform us and those around us.
