Public universities benefit a very small portion of Brazilian students, when these universities benefit at least half of the students, that would be another conversation, because if these students, mostly from the upper middle class, could afford even the basics, and those who they don't really have the conditions, prove to get gratuity, maybe their own universities wouldn't be in this financial crisis; it wouldn't be more than fair, one hand washing the other. We need to prioritize basic education, which does cover a much larger portion of Brazilian students, and ensure that it has the same quality of education as a federal university, because only then would all students, including our children and adolescents, have an equal chance of entering a public university. For the time being, low-income university students have to settle for these poor quality private colleges, veritable diploma factories.
