Extension Educator Brad Carlson brought Dr. Garcia a Soil Scientist by KDHL Studios to talk about Agriculture in Argentina, how it is similar and different than the United States.

Julie Fakler, Executive Director of Faribault PCA gives us a rundown of everything happening at their facility this month. Fakler says they are experiencing some cuts of grants they were awarded so help is needed monetarily. They are hoping to get 100 new members in September to help alleviate the problem.

Jamie Bente, Superintendent, and new high school principal Nate Molitor join us to discuss exciting things happening in the schools and other topics. We talked about steps taken to make sure students are safe in light of the tragedy in Minneapolis this week.

Carrie (the giggler) Hart Activities Director at the Emeralds in Faribault talked about life at the Emeralds and career opportunities!

Rice County SWCD Director Steve Pahs talks about the new RCP Soil Health Program and funds available for cover crops, reduced tillage and windbreaks.

Becky Ford with the Community Action Center of Faribault and Northfield and Greg Ciesluk with State Farm Tony Langerud's office highlight an upcoming event to educate people about a housing program coming to Faribault. Ford tells us Northfield did a similar intiative in what was believed to be the first of it's kind in the nation. FREE hot dog meal is being served at the Langerud State Farm office in Faribault so people can stop by and learn more about the project. The plan is for two housing units for homeless and six market-rate housing units. The Faribault community is still short of housing availability.

John Sherwin goes over various information about crime prevention and school safety.

Council members Royal Ross and Adama Doumboya discuss various issues facing the city. The council is hoping to decide soon if they are going to ask the legislature for permission to request a 1% local option sales tax. The dollars would go toward construction of a new community center if approved by the voters next fall, Before the vote can be held the state has to grant the city permission to conduct the vote.

Dustin Dienst says the rainfall totals in the area over the weekend should not result in any major flooding in the Faribault area. We also touched on school safety with school starts just around the corner at Shattuck. MSAD & MSAB and the public schools, Bethlehem Academy and Divine Mercy Catholic.
