In this episode, we discuss the sociological concept of "the third place", and how organized religion often takes that role in America much more than public spaces like libraries or parks. We also discuss how social media has taken on that role as well, though in the age of algorithmic feeds, it often feels like the purpose is no longer to connect with friends, but simply to advertise an endless array of products. What will be the affect on society without a quality "third place" to relax, meet people, and feel connected to community?
